2020 is finally here, which means it’s the perfect time to explore new design trends and inspiration! This week, we’re sharing 5 interior design trends we’re loving for the new year.
Printed Wallpaper
Printed wallpaper is a popular trend this year. Bold prints are an excellent way to add character and vibrancy to a space. If you’re slightly apprehensive at the thought of bold prints but still want to try something new, why not incorporate them in a smaller space? A guest or half-bathroom is an excellent place to take a little design risk. Use solid-coloured accessories and accents to offset the bold prints and pull the space together.
Classic Blue
Pantone surprised everyone this year when they revealed the Pantone Colour of the Year 2020: Classic Blue! Many were expecting a more unique colour, and reactions have been mixed. Nevertheless, it’s hard to dislike blue, no matter which shade you use, and there are plenty of ways to incorporate it in your home. Even before Pantone revealed their choice, blue cabinets in all shades swept onto the design scene, and have been a fan favourite ever since. Copper accents work perfectly with the colour blue, giving a space a contemporary update.
Calm Tones
Pastels aren’t a new trend, but this year, designers are shifting gears to incorporate wellness into design, utilizing softer colours and tones to inspire a sense of calm. When in doubt, pick one primary shade of your favourite pastel colour and use it as a starting off point to design the rest of the space.
Greys
Grey is definitely an underrated colour! When used in creative ways, it can instantly give a space a modern, stylish aesthetic. The best part is that you don’t need large amounts of it to make an impact. Even accessorizing with grey (think couch cushions, vases etc.) is a simple and effective way to incorporate this trendy colour in your home.
Abstract Art
Abstract prints and artwork are steadily increasing in popularity and are a fun way to add personality to a room without having to empty your pockets on expensive artwork. Looking for great abstract art? Etsy and Society6 are two excellent online stores featuring some of the best artists on the web.
